Jesus and Judas kiss, but there wasn’t any tongue so I didn’t screencap it. Which is a good guideline for how far Gaga isn’t willing to go with ‘Judas’ and how safe she is playing with this material. Maybe that’s unfair. Maybe I’m so high on special rights and cultural expectation that the sight of two men not tongue-kissing offends me. Maybe Gaga aims to bring a lot more people into her fold by blending sex with religion in a really boring, palatable way, and wanted to make a video that didn’t offend any future consumers.
Honnnk, honnnk, honk!honk!honk!
Honk, honk, honk!honk!honk!
Not even going to bother to skim it, JHG. I’ve seen screen-caps of the good parts and already moved on to rewatching “Video Phone” (because if I’m going to watch a music video that goes on for more than four minutes it damn well better have Beyonce in it).
The funny part is that I’ve spent way more than eight minutes reading about the “Alejandro” video, but actually sitting down to watch it proved to be unbearable.
I can’t form an opinion of “Alejandro” because I don’t have the attention span for a 8.5 minute video. I was done just under two minutes in, furious that the actual song hadn’t even started yet.
Every time I hear that new Lady Gaga song I think “Rah, Rah, Romulans.”
It would be a better song if those were the actual lyrics. Just saying.
Another note about the “Video Phone” video:
Has anyone else heard the rumor that Lady Gaga is angling to play Liza Minelli in an upcoming Judy Garland biopic? Is this Sally Bowles-style chair dancing supposed to be a subliminal message to some producers?
I’m just as obsessed with the “Video Phone” video as the rest of Tumblr seems to be. It’s out of control! My favorite part is probably Beyoncé in this Betty Page wig.
Watching this video yesterday I heard Lady Gaga’s voice for the first time. What can I say, I live under a rock and they don’t have radios down here.
